It reads the date and place straight off each photo's own EXIF data, then guesses a name for what's in it. You edit the draft before any of it saves - nothing is ever assumed permanent.
A trip is your own private log. A route is that same trip published for others to browse and unlock - the shape is free to see, the full detail (costs, timings, exact stops) unlocks on purchase.
You can see the shape - place names, dates, day count - for free. Notes, costs, timings, and the full photo set only show once the owner publishes it as a route and you unlock it, or if you're the owner yourself.

Whirlo takes a flat 5% of every sale - you keep 95%, or 75% if your route was cloned from someone else's (the other 20% is their royalty, not Whirlo's). Pro (£29/yr) is separate - it adds unlimited trips and routes plus up to £40/yr of included unlocks.
Yes. Every trip starts private. It only becomes visible to anyone else once you choose to make it public or publish it as a route.
